Product Care
BIBIANA HERNÁNDEZ products are handmade from natural leather, so they may have special characteristics, variations in texture, and irregularities associated with genuine materials and their authenticity.
Each BIBIANA HERNÁNDEZ piece is unique and timeless, created to last a long time, but when not in use, please follow our care recommendations.
1. PROTECT FROM HARMFUL PRODUCTS
Leather is a porous material that will easily absorb cosmetic products, perfumes, oils, and inks, causing irreparable damage to the leather. Prolonged exposure to dark textiles (jeans, denim) can also stain lighter-toned leathers.
2. CREATE A DELICATE CLEANING ROUTINE
- When cleaning and maintaining your leather items, avoid using chemical cleaning products or harsh brushes; opt for cleaning the leather with a soft cloth and moderate amounts of water.
- Wallets: If grease, oils, or other types of liquid that cannot be removed with a soft cloth and water need to be cleaned, use a small amount of soap for delicate garments, diluted in water, rub gently, and remove the excess with a cloth. Allow to air dry in the shade, away from heat sources.
- Shoes: Before storing them in the box, we recommend cleaning the insoles (where we place our feet). With a soft-bristled brush, water, and soap for delicate garments, rub gently and wipe with a dry cloth.
- Clean the sole of the shoes with a damp cloth and let them dry.
- Leather has its own natural oil, which means it is hydrated. We can hydrate it with neutral pH hand cream or special leather moisturizers, approximately every 3 months.
If you wish to clean or polish the metal hardware, it is recommended to cover the leather sides with a cotton cloth to prevent contact with it. We recommend using a special jewelry cleaning cloth. Be careful when cleaning wallets and always cover the hardware so that it does not come into contact with water or soap.
3. AVOID MOISTURE AND DIRECT LIGHT.
Like your skin, leather is sensitive to water, oil, heat, humidity, extreme dryness, and prolonged sunlight.
The closet can be the perfect place to store shoes and wallets. When storing the item, use the bag and box to protect it from dust and light. Do not stuff with newspaper, as it has a fairly acidic pH and the ink can transfer to the leather. Preferably store empty with removable straps or handles inside. If you want to fill the bag, use soft cotton cloths. Avoid overfilling, as this can deform the piece. We suggest keeping the box to store the product and protect it from falls.
4. TIPS
- When using wallets, avoid resting them on the floor, in high-traffic areas, or on dirty surfaces.
- Do not overfill and force the closure, as this will deform the piece over time.
- Take care of shoe heels when going up and down stairs, to avoid tripping on the step.
